Polymyxin – B Sulfate + Neomycin + Dexamethasone (MAXIDIN^®)

What is Maxidin used for? 

Maxidin is an eye and ear drop (suspension) used for short-term treatment of steroid responsive conditions of the eye when prophylactic antibiotic treatment is also required. This can also be used for external ear canal infections caused by susceptible organisms. 

How much and how often should Maxidin be used? 

The recommended dosage is 1-2 drops to each affected eye up to 6 times daily, or more frequently, if required. For the external ear canal infection: external ear should be cleaned before administration of drops. Dosage is 4 drops to be applied 3-4 times daily. 

What are possible side effects of Maxidin? 

Uncommon side effects of Maxidin are keratitis, increased intraocular pressure, eye pruritus and ocular discomfort. 

What does Maxidin contain? 

Maxidin is dexamethasone, neomycin (as sulfate) and polymyxin-b-sulfate, 1 mg/ 3.5 mg/ 6000 I.U. ophthalmic and otic solution available in box of 1 LDPE plastic bottle x 5 mL with HDPE tamper proof cap.
